Event Date: 11/11/11
This marks the day where I got chided for going for these 2 events despite having a bad leg (I sprained my ankle the day before). But honestly, I have mixed feelings about this...
Despite having an ankle that was sprained and hurt so much that I could not go to school, I was determined to go for both the Meet-and-Greet and the Gala Premiere because I have been looking forward to these 2 events since the day I know about Tatsuya Fujiwara coming to Singapore. I had mixed feelings about the Meet-and-Greet but I still decided to go for it in the end.
I left my house at 4.45PM and only reached NEX at about 5.45PM. It took me half an hour longer to get to the place because of my bad ankle. Sitting down on the floor with Sziyi (and got reprimanded by her because I was being very stubborn. Sorry. D:), we waited for the event to start at approximately 7PM. Half of the people gathered there were actually Japanese fans and the rest are mostly Death Note fans. The whole area was crowded, even at the 2nd level of NEX where fans also gathered.
Tatsuya Fujiwara was late to the event by 1 hour. I heard he only arrived at 8.00PM (or even later). It might be due to the prolonged press conference that he had at Fullerton Hotel. His schedule was crazily rushed yesterday with press conference, meet-and-greet and the gala premiere being one after the other. The emcee was trying to drag the time by getting audience members to play games while waiting and despite me raising up my hands as high as I could in the air, I never got picked. I am never picked for these kind of things but yet, I was disappointed. We left before Fujiwara came because we had to rush to Cathay (and the time we would take is also longer because I can't run...). I was disappointed for a moment but in the end, I got over it and headed over to Cathay.
We could see fans gathering around the red carpet at the entrance of Cathay while they waited for the appearance of Tatsuya Fujiwara. However, we skipped the red carpet and headed straight for Cathay at which we have to actually queue to redeem my tickets. I was not given a poster with the tickets and I felt a little disappointed. Nevertheless, we went to an area to sit while I ogled at the posters that was everywhere in the cinema area. We took pictures and flail a little more before heading towards the designated theater (Hall 7) in which we waited for the arrival of Fujiwara.
He appeared! He appeared in all black and received questions from the emcee that was there. I, at that point of time, honestly thought that he looked so much better in casual clothing. During the Gala Premiere, it seemed that the clothing was too refined and well, it just looked kind of awkward. He was so cute, shielding his eyes from the strong glare of camera lights that was directed at him. He continuously looked down because the light was too blinding and there were flashes of camera lights and everyone took pictures to our hearts' content (well, everyone except me because the lighting was too horrible and I could not capture his face properly). He spoke and answered a few questions before he left. And right before he left, we actually did something crazy again. We (Sziyi and I) counted to 3 and shouted, "FUJIWARA-SAN, HONTOU NI KAKKOI DESU!" It seemed like we do that for many events and I don't get embarrassed doing that anymore. Oh dear, this is really not good.
We watched the movie with our spirits still high and I was still flailing over him in my head when it was about 10mins into the movie. I have to say that the movie is not really ~amazing~ but I kind of liked it. I have to say for sure that the movie don't do justice to his facial features. He is really much better looking in person. I would have loved to see Yoshitaka Yuriko too and it is a pity that she was not here with him.
The only bad thing that happened throughout this event was my injured ankle and my phone that actually broke down due to my carelessness. This also marks my first experience going to a Gala Premiere. Seeing him (even though it was only for a few minutes) was worth it.
Thank you Fujiwara, for coming all the way to Singapore to promote Kaiji 2, and thank you Sziyi, for accompanying me to the airport early in the morning on Thursday (10/11/11). Hope you had a good experience in Singapore and have a safe trip back to Japan!
I really enjoyed this whole event to it's fullest.
